Oracle Database@AWS: Powering Enterprise Workloads with AI and Multicloud Simplicity

Oracle Database AWS

Oracle and Amazon Web Services (AWS) have announced the general availability of Oracle Database@AWS, enabling enterprises to run Oracle Exadata Database Service and Oracle Autonomous Database on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) inside AWS data centers. Initially rolled out in U.S. East (N. Virginia) and U.S. West (Oregon), the service will soon reach 20 additional AWS Regions globally.

This multicloud solution makes it easier for customers to migrate Oracle Database workloads to AWS without rearchitecting applications, taking advantage of features like Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC) and the new Oracle Database 23ai, which integrates embedded AI Vector Search.

Seamless Integration and Enhanced AI Capabilities

Oracle Database@AWS eliminates the complexity of managing data pipelines by enabling zero-ETL integration between Oracle Database services and AWS analytics platforms. This allows seamless data flow between the two cloud environments, empowering organizations to combine Oracle data with AWS services like AI, ML, and generative AI to build intelligent, high-performing applications.

According to G2 Krishnamoorthy, VP of Database Services at AWS, enterprises can now migrate their Oracle workloads without altering application architecture, while gaining scalability, security, and resilience from AWS’s infrastructure.

Karan Batta, SVP of Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, emphasized how the platform helps customers run mission-critical applications with built-in AI and vector search capabilities, unlocking new levels of development and data intelligence.

Simplified Cloud Migration and Application Development

Oracle Database@AWS offers customers:

  • Unified management and deployment experience across OCI and AWS
  • Support for Oracle Zero Downtime Migration tools
  • Enhanced resilience using Oracle RAC, AWS Availability Zones, and Amazon S3 for backups
  • Simplified licensing and procurement via AWS Marketplace, allowing Bring Your Own License (BYOL) and Oracle Support Rewards
  • Integration with familiar AWS tools like the AWS Management Console, IAM, CloudWatch, and CloudFormation

Additionally, customers can build microservices-based applications using Amazon EC2, ECS, and EKS while integrating Oracle Database features such as AI Vector Search, improving time-to-market and enhancing application intelligence.

Enterprise Adoption: Real-World Success Stories

Leading enterprises from financial services, insurance, and analytics are already embracing Oracle Database@AWS.

  • Fidelity Investments uses the solution to improve digital agility and enterprise-grade resilience.
  • Nationwide sees it as a key element in its cloud strategy to support secure, scalable innovation.
  • SAS leverages Oracle Database@AWS to empower customers with high-performance access to applications and data while fulfilling AI-driven business objectives.

Global Expansion and Availability

The service is currently live in two U.S. regions and will expand to 20 more AWS regions, including Canada, India, Australia, Japan, Europe, and South America. This ensures businesses across the globe can access Oracle’s AI-driven multicloud capabilities closer to their operations.

The Bigger Picture: Oracle’s Distributed Cloud Strategy

Oracle’s distributed cloud model includes:

  • Public Cloud: Global hyperscale regions for organizations of all sizes
  • Dedicated Cloud: Services like OCI Dedicated Region and Oracle Alloy for customer-controlled environments
  • Hybrid Cloud: On-premises deployments with Exadata Cloud@Customer
  • Multicloud: Low-latency integration with AWS, Google Cloud, and Microsoft Azure

Oracle Database@AWS stands as a powerful example of Oracle’s commitment to multicloud innovation, AI integration, and global accessibility for enterprise data platforms.
