Krzysztof Kaczy? ski, Executive Director for Electromobility at Orlen, told Bloomberg News that Orlen, the biggest refiner in Poland and Eastern Europe, has opened its first EV charging hub in Poland and plans to open 50 more over the course of the next two years.
Orlen put its first state-of-the-art electric vehicle fast-charging hub into service earlier this month as part of the ORLEN Charge network. According to Orlen, the facility, situated along the S7 expressway, would enable drivers to charge their cars to an ideal level three times as quickly as previously, in about 20 minutes.
Additionally, the hub features sophisticated power-sharing technology that delivers up to 400 kW per charging point and automatically adjusts charging power to meet engine demand. Orlen intends to open more than a dozen hubs along motorways and expressways by the end of this year, notably in Nowy Dwór Gdański, Gorzów Wielkopolski, and Szczecin.
Marek Balawejder, a member of Orlen’s Management Board for Retail Sales, stated that “long charging times remained one of the main barriers to the development of electromobility.”

Orlen’s First EV Hub and Its Advanced Capabilities
According to Balawejder, “the new ORLEN Charge hub substantially mitigates this challenge, offering times for charging comparable to the average time spent by drivers of regular cars at service stations.”
Orlen’s EV charging stations are part of a national initiative to expand EV infrastructure, according to Kaczy? Ski.
According to Kaczy,” ski, “the majority of the hubs will be situated along transport routes, greatly helping to alleviate hurdles to interstate electric vehicle travel.”
By 2035, Orlen, an oil refiner with thousands of conventional gas stations across Eastern Europe, aims to dominate Poland’s EV charging market.
Orlen’s Long-Term EV Charging Expansion Strategy
The business stated earlier this month that “charging points will also be developed throughout other European markets where ORLEN operates in response to growing demand.”
One of the fastest-expanding EV markets in Europe is Poland. According to data from the European Commission’s European Alternative Fuels Observatory, battery electric vehicle (BEV) registrations increased by 61% year over year to 14,256 units in the first half of 2025, making up 5% of the entire car market.
