Local Court Decision in Dublin
A member of the Muslim Brotherhood brought a lawsuit against the Islamic Cultural Centre of Ireland (ICC) at the Dublin High Court but the court there has rejected the claims. The fight was about the power and the control of the centre but the complaint of the plaintiff was dropped and this made all the charges to be dismissed.
Judge David Nolan pointed out that very important legal papers that should have been used as evidence to back up the claims were not in the court file which weakened the plaintiff’s argument. In the absence of these papers, the court did not find it had a sufficient basis for going ahead with the case.
Conflict Background
The filing of a lawsuit against the board of a foundation was done by Abdelbaset Elsayed in May 2025, with the main accusations being related to the leadership changes. Elsayed said that he was in charge of the management since 2012 and he disagreed with the new board’s decision as being illegal. Though these allegations faded away as the trial progressed due to scanty evidence.
It was amid these events that the closure took place of the ICC’s mosque in Clonskigha, South Dublin, thus the administrative dispute surrounding it became very influential in this matter.
The Result and Its Impact
Once the suit was withdrawn, the court dismissed the claims and also made a ruling to that effect ordering Elsayed to defray legal costs and to make restitution to the community in connection with damages caused by the disruption. There will be a further hearing on January 13, 2026, to sort out the exact figures of compensation.
The Al Maktoum Foundation’s current board of directors is out of the woods in terms of this verdict. The court acknowledged their dedication to the community in spite of the lawsuit and welcomed the foundation’s activities.
Importance of Recognition of the Contributions Beyond
The High Court went beyond the normal limits to recognize the extensive charitable and developmental efforts linked with the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Humanitarian and Charity Establishment. Such recognition highlighted the significance of institutional social work and helped put the legal dispute into a bigger picture of community service.
The decision acts as a judicial support for the reliable operation of the UAE-linked foundation in this particular instance, at the same time, it stresses the necessity of having a clear legal basis for governance disputes.
