Duro AI-Native PLM Platform Aims to Revolutionize Hardware Engineering

As hardware engineering becomes increasingly complex, companies are struggling to maintain communication and collaboration between design and production teams. Traditional product lifecycle management (PLM) systems often fail to meet these evolving needs, especially when they create isolated data silos across departments. This lack of integration results in time-consuming manual work, poor traceability, and delayed product launches—particularly in high-stakes sectors such as aerospace, defense, and medical hardware.

Duro aims to change that through its Technology Partner Program and its newly relaunched AI-native platform, Duro Design. By creating a digital thread that connects all parts of the product lifecycle, Duro helps engineering teams overcome knowledge gaps and work in real time with synchronized data.

Collaboration Without Vendor Lock-In

“Our collaborative model helps customers avoid vendor lock in, eliminate information silos and create a digital thread that supports agile product development and faster delivery,” said Michael Corr, CEO of Duro.

Duro’s PLM platform integrates with a broad range of engineering tools. Through an Open GraphQL API, developers can build custom connections with CAD, ERP, MES, and sourcing platforms. Engineers are empowered to extract exactly the data they need without waiting for IT, leading to quicker decisions and more efficient change management.

Rebuilding PLM for Modern Needs

Duro has reintroduced its flagship product as Duro Design, a cloud-based, AI-native PLM solution rebuilt from the ground up to triple the speed of product launches. The PLM market—projected to reach $46 billion by 2032—remains dominated by legacy systems built in the 1980s. These older tools are often rigid and fail to support today’s fast-paced, collaborative workflows.

“With Duro Design, we’re enabling hardware teams to transcend the limitations of outdated tools by unifying design, sourcing and manufacturing into one innovative AI-native platform,” Corr explained.

Smart Features for Faster Delivery

Duro Design includes:

  • CAD plug-ins for SolidWorks, Altium 365, OnShape, and NX
  • Built-in NPI (new product introduction) workflows
  • Customizable change order systems
  • Integrations with platforms like Netsuite, SAP, Epsilon3, ION, and Boltline

The system supports real-time data access, keeping BOMs (bill of materials), documentation, and design revisions updated across teams. This is particularly critical for compliance in regulated industries.

Real-World Impact and Results

The platform has shown measurable results. For instance, AstroForge used Duro to redesign its space mining vehicle, Odin, in under a year. Rapid Robotics centralized its parts data using Duro, leading to faster development cycles and reduced manual work.

User feedback plays a critical role in Duro’s product evolution. “Feedback from electrical, mechanical and systems engineers directly shapes our road map,” said Corr.

Enabling Seamless Integration and Support

By providing a unified system of record, Duro fosters better communication between engineering, sourcing, and production teams. The open API and native integrations make it easier to link third-party systems into one cohesive workflow.

“Customers like AstroForge rely on our integration with Epsilon3 to align engineering and operations around a single source of truth,” Corr noted. Teams benefit from centralized BOM management, faster design reviews, and real-time tracking—without chasing updates via email or spreadsheets.

To ensure success, Duro offers onboarding resources, live support, a knowledge base, and co-marketing opportunities for partners.
