YouTube Expands AI Tools to Empower Creators

YouTube is launching several AI-powered tools to reduce the effort required for producers.

Ask Studio, a new AI “creative partner” unveiled by the video platform at its annual Made On YouTube event, can provide customized summaries of items such as a video’s performance or comments.

In a release, YouTube stated, “We want Ask Studio to be the best creative partner for all Creators – a reliable partner that Creators go to first.” “It will offer tailored and practical strategic insights based on an understanding of your channel, YouTube’s operations, and you as a Creator.”

The announcement comes as social media giants continue to aggressively embrace the AI boom, incorporating more AI-powered tools for creators and launching AI agents and in-platform chatbots targeting users.

To enhance their videos, many artists have been experimenting with various AI tools for years, including those released by YouTube in recent years.

However, a few producers criticized the Google-owned video site earlier this year, claiming that YouTube was employing artificial intelligence (AI) to make minor edits to their videos without their knowledge or consent. The platform responded by stating that it would allow artists to opt out of using the most recent improvements made to some Shorts.

YouTube announced on Tuesday that it will provide artists with an AI tool that can brainstorm possible future videos, generating a title, description, and thumbnail for each, as well as a potential story arc and video hook. The business also stated that it will use historical audience behavior to provide designers with detailed justifications for its recommendations.

Additionally, the business is developing new capabilities, such as deepfake identification and automatic dubbing.

New AI Tools for Video Creation and Content Strategy

YouTube stated that in the upcoming months, new lip-sync technology is expected to enhance the alignment of dubbed languages with the mouth movements of artists. The functionality utilizes artificial intelligence (AI) to localize YouTube content in 20 languages, replacing the human voice actors and translators that some producers previously employed.

Members of the YouTube Partner Program can now access an open beta version of YouTube’s tool for identifying unlawful uses of creators’ likenesses. This similarity identification feature, first revealed in December, is the platform’s response to the growing number of nonconsensual AI-generated deepfakes that have been circulating on the internet in recent years. These deepfakes are often of celebrities or influencers promoting products.

YouTube claims that its new AI-powered highlights feature will automatically identify and select the “most compelling” moments from each live stream, converting them into shorts that content producers can share.

Additional additions revealed on Tuesday include the ability to add up to five collaborators to a single video and more A/B testing options for recently published videos.

Tackling Deepfakes and Strengthening Creator Protection

Additionally, YouTube Shorts will soon have access to other AI capabilities for video development on the platform.

Google is now testing an AI video editor that “transforms your raw footage into a compelling first draft.” Google’s Veo 3 video generator, which will enable creators to turn text prompts into video shorts, has started rolling out. Additionally, a new speech-to-song tool that can remix discourse into “catchy soundtracks” will be put through testing, according to the platform.
